Spectra Dental Care provides special needs dentistry for patients of all ages who may face barriers to receiving care in a traditional dental office. We begin with consultation and individualized care planning to understand each patient’s dental and medical needs, communication preferences, ability to tolerate treatment, and the support that may be needed.
Who may benefit from our care
Spectra Dental Care may be appropriate for patients who:
Have intellectual or developmental disabilities, including autism
Have medical, behavioral, sensory, or communication needs
Have complex medical conditions
Have difficulty tolerating dental examinations, imaging, or treatment in a traditional dental office
Need caregivers, guardians, or medical providers involved in care planning
May require hospital-based dental treatment under general anesthesia

A diagnosis alone does not determine the right setting for dental care.
Dr. Samuel considers each patient’s dental needs, medical history, ability to tolerate care, communication needs, caregiver input, safety considerations, and available support when developing a care plan.
The goal is to identify the safest and most appropriate approach for each patient.
When hospital-based care may be needed
For some patients, dental treatment in a traditional office may not be safe or feasible. In those situations, hospital-based treatment under general anesthesia may be considered as part of the care plan.
